Earth Conscious Consumers logoEarth Conscious Consumers

This is an idea I brainstormed for many years to come up with a way to influence consumer spending primarily through education and personal responsibility. I am no longer working on it, but do think it's a good idea and would benefit society if it was an active organization.

The Earth Conscious Consumers (ECC) addresses ethics of the 21st century as it relates to consumers. It incorporates sacred economics and emphasizes consumer responsibility to influence the process of buying and selling products. Members share information on how to be more aligned with the planet with their spending habits.

There are no passengers on spaceship Earth. We are all Crew.

Earth

Over the past 500 years, the population of humans on Earth has grown from half a billion, to over 7 billion. Technology, the global market place, and powerful corporations are thriving and have given rise to a more globally connected planet. These powerful forces have also introduced new environmental and social problems on a global scale. The solution to this global crisis, is a shift in consumer and business decision making.

The Earth Conscious Consumers (ECC) is an organization that declares an ethical stance on how humans and business should live on planet Earth. These ethics will address issues that effect future generations, minorities, and the environment. The goal is to protect the Earth from businesses that are destructive. Good businesses will be promoted, while damaging businesses will be avoided. Members understand that spending money is a form of voting, so while buying products the process is about voting for companies that have agreeable ethics.

The ECC consists of a round table of educated individuals from many cultures and backgrounds. A manifesto will be written that will outline ethical guidelines that people should abide by to ensure a good future for life on Earth for thousands of years. Individuals and businesses that align with the manifesto will be considered “Earth Conscious”.

"We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors,
we borrow it from our children."
- Ancient Proverb

Conscious

The Evolution of human consciousness has reach a level where we can improve things rapidly by how we spend our money. Anyone who is not a part of the solution, is a part of the problem. Lets work together to inform each other on how we should be living in the 21st century.

Many consumers are waking up out of the survival capitalistic game consciousness, and strive for a sustainable model and sacred economics.

The time has come for us to consciously accept our place as a care taker of the Earth.
The actions you consciously decide to can have an echoing effect on the economy, and our great grand children.

"Taking even one step towards mindfulness benefits every being on Earth."
-Thich Nhat Hanh

Consumers

Vote with your dollars.
It is the antidote to corporate greed.

Consumers should promote the use of:
– Re-usable products
– Cruelty free products
– Carbon neutral products
– Products made from Recycled materials
– bio-degradable containers

Consumers should be aware of:
– Cradle to Grave
– Externalizing Cost
– Effects of Pollution

Members can write “Transparency Reports” about any company they know a lot about.
These documents can be edited wiki style, so other members can add or edit it.

As a consumer we should never give money to a company that violates our ethics with their actions. If you wouldn’t do it to an animal or piece of land due to ethical and miserable results, then you should not pay another company to do it for you. We should strive to make the best decisions, so we are not wasteful or polluting behind our own backs.

If you spend money, you have the responsibility to know what you are funding from cradle to grave.
Consumers can support businesses that are sustainable and in harmony with the Earth’s Resources.
